Seneca defined Pantelleria as a “desertus et asperrimus locus”, Ovidio called it as “the sterile”, Gabriel Garcia Marquez wrote “I don’t think there’s a place in the world more suited to think of the moon”. It is here, in this environment, unique in the world, that the Moscato d’Alessandria turns into Zibibbo. Here, where men heroically cultivated those marvellous terracing, “carved” on the beautiful isle slopes hanging from spectacular walls in lava, Zibibbo becomes the oenological jewel known in the world as “Passito di Pantelleria”. The gods’ ambrosia which ravished Apollo and had him fall in love with the goddess Tanit, the same which Giacomo Casanova used to offer to his passionate lovers, is nowadays a brand-new product, with a golden amber colour, with a sweet and aromatic Flavour, with that typical scent of Moscato and the strong character of a wine with a story to tell. |
